The U.S managed to give Iran something it couldn’t get on its own, CREDIBILITY.

What started as an aggression by the U. S. and Israel against Iran, quickly became a more serious aggression or war, whatever you wish to call it.

In June of 2025,the U. S. and Israel launched an extensive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and other military targets.

We were told these strikes would eliminate Iran’s nuclear capability and topple the regime within days.

Neither of these objectives were successful. Instead, Iran’s resolve strengthened and in February, 2026, the U.S. and Israel launched a new and even more destructive bombardment of targets in Iran, including a girls schools.

Once again U.S. and Israel’s leaders underestimated the resolve and retaliatory capabilities of Iran.

Iran has fought the combined assaults that ended as ceasefires and all along has gained in credibility and strategy.

Iran was embroiled in a war with Iraq from 1980- 1988, which ended inconclusively, Since that time, they have shown no major military capabilities and when involved in multiple military skirmishes with Israel, Iran showered the world with bombastic rhetoric but was inept at inflicting any real damage on Israel.

While Israel’s support around the world has eroded largely due to the campaign in Gaza, Iran has gained in credibility and has found itself on stronger ground.

The missiles and drones it now uses, are vastly more effective than anything it employed before. Using it’s geographical advantage, which enables it to shut down transit through the Gulf of Hormuz, has changed the calculus of the war.

Even it’s proxy in Yemen, the Houthis, are more effective now, than before.

As for the plot to shoot down Air Force One, killing the President and cabinet members along with many well known journalists is highly unlikely. Why would Iran want to kill a President who has helped them achieve this credibility, not to mention the backlash that would occur from the downing of the plane. No attempt to shoot down the plane took place and that was the last we heard about it.

Trump likes to wear the badge of honor of having so many attempts on his life. Could this be another example of that?

During a cease fire, in July 2026, the U.S. and Iran signed a MOU, which was very beneficial to Iran and at least gave the administration the beginnings to an off ramp. A few days later some ships were fired upon in the Gulf, for which Iran said was the act of a rogue group and profusely apologized. The U. S. retaliated with bombing and thus the ceasefire was over and replaced with continued hostilities.

Why would Iran want to step back from negotiating a peace treaty that was highly favorable to them?
