Ahmad Chalabi, the Pentagon's Iraqi in exile, has proved to be a political cat with nine lives. As the main Iraqi spokesman for the Invasion, he promulgated that the Iraqis would rise up in support of the U.S. Invasion and create a democratic state.
He now says that the mission failed because The U.S. didn't step out of the way after Hussein's downfall and let the Iraqis take charge.
We have certainly seen enough evidence to point to the validity of this assertion. Let's hope that in his next endeavor, he can reach into that little bag of excuses and pull out a better one.
In the recent Senate race in Tennessee, A republican ad smearing Representative Harold Ford was appearing on TV. A woman's voice followed the ad saying that the Republican National Committee was responsible for the content of the ad. Even many Republicans thought the ad was racist and should be taken off the air. When asked about the ad Ken Mehlman head of the Republican National Committee said that he saw nothing wrong with the ad. He then added that "even if he wanted to pull the ad he couldn't."
He went on to say that the ad was produced by an independent group contracted by the RNC. He further stated that, "I write a check to an independent individual and that person is responsible for spending the money in certain states. Beyond that the RNC is out of the loop."
The next day the ad was pulled from all media.
The President's daughter, Barbara had her handbag and cell phone stolen from under her table in a Buenos Aires restaurant this week. The secret service detail guarding her said that she was in no danger. It's comforting to know they didn't get close enough to do her harm.
