Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy for President today. 
I like Hillary Clinton. I admire her intelligence and her political savvy. But just think, if Hillary was elected and served two terms, we would have just two families represented in the White House over a 28 year period of time.
I think that is defeating the two term limit, established by the 22nd. Amendment to the Constitution after Franklin Roosevelt was elected to four consecutive terms. Does it not defeat the spirit of that law, which intended to prevent dynasties, concentration of power and stagnant thinking? Are not a father and son and husband and wife close enough ideologically that this kind of continuity would constitute an end run around the spirit of the law?
Can there be such a dearth of candidates that can successfully challenge? It is not as if the occupants of the White House over the past two decades were so great that we would be sacrificing great leadership if we were to look outside of the "families".
Money is playing an ever increasing role in the election of our public servants. We could level the playing field somewhat by establishing spending limits on campaigns. This would then have a positive effect on filling in the loopholes in the campaign contribution laws.
The candidates' experience, policies, and communication skills would then play a larger role in their success or failure.
