"Dinner for Schmucks", Steve Carell's newest comedy, is a remake of a 1998 french film "The Dinner Game". Opening July 30, with a premiere comedian in his prime and a professional supporting cast, the picture may be significant for another reason.
The producers of "Dinner for Schmucks", reportedly paid one & one half million dollars for the right to use the Beatles song "Fool On The Hill". Paramount now says the actual amount was less than a million, a hefty sum nevertheless.
