The day after the President proposed his $450B American Jobs Act, Congressman Cantor objected to the formation of an Infrastructure Bank and instead said that he would favor funnelling infrastructure funding through the States. I haven't heard any Democrats comment about this shift to the States control over the allocation of the funds.
Is this another example of States rights vs. big Government? Is this an example of one Party finding any excuse they can to disagree with the other Party with the American public caught in the middle? If it were to hold up the implementation of a much needed program is this meaningful government or nitpicking?
Republicans call any kind of stimulus spending this Administration has tried a failure. They characterize it as a temporary Keynesian measure. They use this as the premise for why they will not vote for any kind of stimulus spending. Isn't the truth that the past stimulus spending, while not creating new jobs in any great numbers, did prevent the economy from slipping any farther.
Or are they right? Did the stimulus programs fail to provide businesses with enough confidence that would spur them to increase expansion?
How will we lessen the bickering, the ideological differences, and most important the animosity one Party has for the leader of the other Party?
