A Continental passenger jet that embarked in Newark, N.J. and was bound for Bogota,Columbia, was diverted to Jacksonville, Fl. today.
It was determined that a passenger with a name similar to someone on the no-fly list, but with a different birth-date was on board. Once the individual was cleared the plane resumed its original course.
This should not go un-noticed. The plane was in the air for an hour before the alarm was sounded to divert it. Did it take that long for a computer screen to light up with the similarity or did it just take someone that long to decide to take action.
If the passenger was deemed dangerous due to his name, how come this wasn't picked up prior to the plane taking off. The point of the no-fly list is to prevent these people from boarding planes.
