The Supreme Court today over-turned the MCain-Feingold election financing law that limited corporate spending in political campaigns.
The court ruled 5-4 that the government has no business regulating political speech.
Wasn't the point of the law to prevent large corporations and entities from making advertising and lobbying one sided in certain elections.
Take the example of an election in a small town or area where there is only one large corporation. The candidate backed by this company would have a huge advantage.
We have witnessed a major set-back in the effort to make our elections more representative of the popular vote.
