The founding fathers and early Presidents left a revered legacy that has endured through today. Added to by Lincoln,Theodore Roosevelt, and Franklin Roosevelt, the foundation of our country was established, with an unfaltering determination and resilience.
Fast forwarding to the Trump era, we have seen the Republican Party become a nest of self serving, sycophantic lackeys.
This brings us to the current election and debates. Biden has opportunities to not only win the election, but to weaken the legacy of Trump for years to come.
A few observations:
When asked about his handling of the Covid crisis, Trump consistently points out that he banned travel from China early on, before anyone else. It needs to be pointed out that there were 44 other countries that banned travel from China before the U.S..
Trump could easily have been a hero, and saved many lives at the same time, by merely acting reasonably and responsibly. When confronted with the developing pandemic, any other leader would have eventually seen that masks, social distancing and some form of shutdown, were the proper course of action.
For many years Trump has said that he can't release his tax returns because he is under audit. What IRS code or regulation says that someone under audit may not release their tax returns to the public. Years ago an IRS spokesman said there was nothing preventing the President from releasing his returns.
Biden needs to learn the art of the pivot better. When asked to name a law enforcement agency that has endorsed him, he looked like a deer in the headlights. If for whatever reason Biden couldn't come up with an answer, that was the perfect time for a pivot.
To sum it up, we have a President that has, for many years, been fermenting a second civil war, inciting groups to riot and fomenting violence. He is a habitual liar, a sexual predator, an elitist tax cheat, a draft dodger and a bigoted racist who sees himself as one third of a world wide triumvirate composed of himself, Putin and XI.
And these are his best qualities. Did I leave anything out?
