It was announced today that the 69 year old dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong Il, died suddenly of a heart attack. He was last seen in public two days ago and no reports were given that he was in poor health.
If he were killed by members of his inner circle, there would be no autopsy. It is speculated that his inexperienced, youngest son, Kim Jong Un, will take the reins of this backward country, with the fifth largest army in the world and nuclear and biologic weapons in it's arsenal.
If a member or members of his power structure wanted to become more aggressive with their military components, or feared Kim Jong Il for another reason, a motive to change the power at the top could have been present.
That part of the world reacted with alarm and some trepidation in the aftermath of this announcement. Only time will tell if there is any discernable change in the way North Korea conducts itself in the future is a direct result of this change of leadership.
